Saw your message on wordpress.com about Theme Friday and wanting something special so you could customize the graphic on your blog.

The Presentation page includes not only theme selection, but theme editing. Finding and replacing the image with your own – or simply uploading to the same directory your own image using the existing image’s name, will take care of that for you.
The themes can only be edited this way if wordpress is hosted on your own domain. Themes are not editable here at wordpress.com. Maybe at some point there will be a theme offered with an option to upload your own header, but it isn’t available yet.
